We are going back under the sea this season and for the very first time offering the potential for 3 DIFFERENT CASTS (if enrollment allows) to perform the same musical – THE LITTLE MERMAID! No audition and no experience is required to participate in this show, however, students in this class must be independent enough to participate & engage in a two hour rehearsal each week and the production without a direct aid (if you are unsure if this class is a good fit for your student, please contact us and we would be happy to advise you!). Each cast will meet for a 2 hour rehearsal every week then perform in a highly professional production at Soli Deo Center in Nashville the weekend of June 4-6, 2027.

By enrolling in this experience, your actor will be placed on a general cast list and, once registration has closed, all students on the cast list will be assigned to a specific cast & rehearsal day/time based on the needs of each cast and the casting choices of the Director.

Cast Flounder – Mondays 10:30am-12:30pm
Cast Sebastian – Mondays 1:30pm-3:30pm
Cast Scuttle – Tuesdays 10:30am-12:30pm

Requests can be made for a specific cast by emailing info@backlightproductions.org, however, **we cannot guarantee that the request can be accommodated. We will do the best we can to accommodate cast requests, however, to ensure we are able to build the strongest casts possible and place everyone in the roles in which we believe they will thrive, we ask that you make every effort possible to be flexible and please only make requests if you have conflicts for a specific rehearsal time that cannot be altered.

There will be 30 total Monday/Tuesday classes over the course of September 2026-May 2027 & 2 rehearsals at the theater prior to the performance.

Theater Rehearsal #1 – Friday, May 28
Theater Dress Rehearsals – June 1-3 (one cast per day)
Theater Performances – June 4-6 (one cast per day)

No Monday/Tuesday classes will be held on the following dates:
10/12 & 10/13 – Fall Break
10/26 & 10/27 – Post Production Weekend
11/23 & 11/24 – Thanksgiving Break
12/21 & 12/22 – Winter Break
12/28 & 12/29 – Winter Break
2/22 & 2/23 – Post Production Weekend
3/15 & 3/16 – Spring Break
5/31 – Memorial Day

The total tuition for this experience is $1,450 which includes the $100 registration/costuming fee which must be paid upfront.
The remaining tuition can be paid in full or monthly at $150/month from September 2026-May 2027
