Theatre I - Waiting List Only

Our primary theater class that produces a mainstream Broadway musical each year featuring Backlight students. This year we will be continuing our work on “Mary Poppins” in partnership with the Nashville Repertory Theater as it was unable to be performed this past April. The show will be produced at whatever capacity is available to us in April 2021. New students will only be admitted to Theater 1 this year if a space opens up due to a student from last year’s cast needing to withdraw. Virtual participation is available for this class until January 2021 for a discounted price – please inquire for more details

Theatre II

Theater 2 is Backlight’s secondary theater class that works with a more intimate group to dive deeper into how to strengthen creative abilities and utilize them in smaller varying productions.  This year in Theater 2 we will be producing a small production of an original work by a local playwright entitled “Of Birds Who Try” for the first half of the term. During our second term we will host our popular “New Works Writers Lab” course in which students will write an original play that will be performed in a live reading by professional actors.
